Autor Foods promotes lupins as a superfood

Autor Foods promoted lupins as a superfood at the International Food Fair (SIAL), which was held in Paris (France) from 21 to 25 October. It’s the world’s leading fair for the food sector, offering access only to specialist exhibitors. Autor Foods participates as a specialist in the production of tinned vegetables as well as tinned pre-cooked pulses and organic pulses.

As one of the company’s latest developments, lupins were one of the star products we exhibited through our export managers at SIAL. “Lupins have again become popular and we’re meeting this demand thanks to constant innovation within our R&D department and the production capacity of our Riojan plant, which exceeds 72 million units a year,” explained José Luis Díez, Managing Director of Autor Foods.

“We’re promoting this product which is still a bit undervalued as a superfood since its plant-based protein contribution is around 40%. It’s on the same level as chia and quinoa,” he added.

Among the more than 7,000 exhibitors from a hundred countries, Autor Foods really stood out with its wide range of products which are constantly changing and evolving to adapt to the international market in which we operate. Besides its lupins, it exhibited its tinned pulses, both the conventional versions as well as the organic versions and in a large variety of formats to meet any demand in the foodstuff and foodservice channels. “Although the pulses sector is very mature, there’s always room for innovation. And we’re working along that line,” said Díez.
